The Industrial District welcomed shoppers back once again to the flower shops that rely on holidays such as Mother’s Day for a significant percentage of their annual revenue.  The Covid pandemic restrictions took a toll on flower businesses in 2020, but blooms and petals were flying off shelves this year to the delight of business owners and shoppers alike.

The BID worked with several City departments in the weeks leading up to Mother’s Day to address the problem of illegally dumped green waste on these major flower holidays.  There was unprecedented cooperation between LAPD, Sanitation, Transportation and the BID.  The result was a decrease in illegal dumping and more coordination of vehicular and pedestrian traffic on the busiest streets.  The BID safety and maintenance teams worked overtime to ensure a pleasant experience.  We collected 24 tons of trash that weekend alone.

We thank our City partners for their great help.
