As of September 3, LA Municipal Code 41.18 is being enforced. The BID is not empowered to enforce this code. Enforcement must be done by the City. This code governs sidewalk access issues such as ADA (36-inch) clearance, 10-foot clearance from driveways, 5-foot clearance from doorways, and 2-foot clearance around fire hydrants. LAPD can cite a person for non-compliance, and LASAN can remove property.

City officials are hoping to achieve voluntary compliance with the new law, and police officers will use discretion in its enforcement. Violations will not result in immediate enforcement but will start a process that will use education and information about the law to achieve compliance. Repeated violations can result in enforcement. Please contact LAPD if you have a situation that falls under LAMC 41.18.
