Flower businesses have a large and growing footprint in the southwest corner of our BID. Heavy flower shopping days such as Valentine's Day bring massive deliveries a full two weeks in advance, and throngs of shoppers and wholesale buyers descend on the district in the days leading up to the holiday. This makes for a very fun and colorful experience, but it also means traffic congestion, unsafe double-parking, and pedestrians jaywalking across busy streets. Our Industrial Team public safety patrol worked overtime to ensure visitors had a positive experience, and our Clean Team was tasked with preventing illegal dumping of green waste. The BID worked closely with several City departments and the Office of Councilman Kevin de Leon, ensuring a robust and coordinated response. Each flower holiday presents an opportunity for us to step up our game, and we will do so again for Mothers’ Day, the biggest flower holiday of all.
