It’s now a tradition. Each Halloween, the BID Public Safety team escorts youngsters for a brief “trick-or-treat” excursion, culminating in a special event at LAPD’s Central Area station on 6th Street. The event is coordinated by School on Wheels, located at 7th & San Pedro, where children receive after-school academic tutoring.
For the second consecutive year, Central Area LAPD officers assigned to the Skid Row RESET unit greeted the kids at several points throughout the route, giving out candy and providing an extra measure of safety. The biggest surprise awaited the youngsters at LAPD’s Central Station, where they were greeted by LAPD Chief Michel Moore and his command staff, and activities including an ice cream booth. The finale was a special “fly over” by an LAPD Air Support helicopter, wishing everyone a happy and safe Halloween.
