Each summer, police departments across the U.S. host an evening with the community to forge closer ties and break down barriers to communication. The event is known as National Night Out, and on August 7th LAPD invited residents and business owners in each of their geographic areas to come out for an evening of fun, food, music and opportunities to interact with LAPD officers one-on-one. Our BID has its footprint in both Newton Area and Central Area, and our staff and public safety officers were present at both locations.  From our booths, we handed out gift bags with promotional material from many of our businesses including restaurants and shops. The events were attended by Councilmember Curran Price and Kevin de Leon, and newly elected City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto.
