We’re proud to congratulate BID Officer Ray Lopez for his award as the 2018 Officer of the Year for the Downtown L.A. Industrial BID. Officer Lopez received his award on April 18th at a ceremony and luncheon sponsored by the LAPD Central Area Police Boosters held at the Los Angeles Athletic Club.
Each year the Boosters select one public safety officer from each of the Downtown BIDs for this honor.
Officer Lopez was selected due to his outstanding performance since joining the Industrial BID in October of last year. His commitment to excellence and professionalism inspires those around him to continue to reach and extend their own potential.

In February, Officer Lopez voluntarily took on the task of reviewing and updating the training regimen for all new bike patrol employees. He revised the training process and criteria that each trainee should know based on the real-time changing environment of the district. Thanks to Officer Lopez, this training now includes a new, more comprehensive and interactive module. These improvements have already resulted in an updated approach that benefits all incoming trainees.
Congratulations to our 2018 Officer of the Year, Ray Lopez!
